It's not funded for FFX county to Rouse though-- doesn't meet the distance threshold. Our school doesn't have the money for that (but did do it for VA Beach where VHSL paid).

This is the same for our FCPS HS. Swimmers are on their own in terms of transportation and lodging this year.

Yes - a little disappointing they don’t even get a bus to States. If it was the football team, chartered buses for sure.

Well, let's be honest. Money is going to go to Football and basketball. And they do "earn" more with ticket sales then swim. But there is the HS discrepancy that continues through college.

My swim meet admission fees alone should have covered a bus for the day. But I know DC would prefer not to be stuck on the bus all day.

Your swim meet admission fees will go towards covering the cost of the pool rental.

Does someone validate these entries? I see a swimmer entered with a time I know they did not get this HS season.

Noticed that too. Do they seed with SWIMS times rather than HS season times?

How do you know this? Were you tracking every dual meet time for every swimmer?

Districts and Regions are not the only place swimmers can qualify for states

They aren't supposed to use swims-- so I'm hoping there's a verification in case the coach accidentally did.

DP, it’s pretty rare that multiple people would have the exact same time as their best club time at both a HS meet and a club meet.

It has to be a high school time.

Yea, but generally their best time will have happened at Districts or Regions. Not always. We have swimmers that make the state cut at a dual meet and then do not swim that event until states.

And, a lot of teams have all of their team's results so they would know if a time was not a high school time. I also know that some of the teams in the Patriot District seed their dual meets by SWIMS times which I think is a BS practice. I could see them getting sloppy and doing the same at States.

We know. But if someone is seeded at states with a faster time than they were seeded with or swam at districts or regionals, then this is odd. Why wouldn’t they have seeded districts or regionals with this super fast dual meet time?

I would agree that if they swam that event at Districts/Regionals and were not seeded with that time then there is an issue. If it is not your team, bring it up with your coach. It should be corrected. I imagine the team coach is doing something wonky. What team is it?

I assume the club time entered gives them a better seed? Is it making a huge difference?
Anonymous
what school? Is it across the board or just one swimmer?
Anonymous
When schools submit entries they have to provide a "proof of time" from a dual meet. The entry process is fact checked.

Actually, I stand corrected. I thought a time was club that is actually a legit HS time. I totally own my error, sorry!!! I can’t speak for others that also think they’ve seen club times.

I think that is an easy mistake to make. A good number of kids matched best club times or were so close that you would actually have to look up their club time to know that it was hundredths of a second off from a their club time.

A lot of kids blew past their club times at regionals. We were at Patriot and just wow, what a competitive and fast meet.
