I remember that thread. I’m someone who has family in Russia and when my adult child (who is an avid world traveler) said they wanted to meet our relatives, I said it was a very bad idea. This was years ago.

Fortunately (at least I think so), when my child tried to contact those relatives, no one even responded. The platform used to try to contact them has now since gone dark for all of the accounts that those family members once used to have.

Basically, nothing ever happened or came of the entire idea, and there has been no more contact from any single one of them with the Americans in the family to this day.

Probably for the best imho
