Taxes in this country are a joke. Lobbied by firms like turbotax.

We filed using turbo tax previous 2 years for same issue and it was free. They have a free option. Just did turbo tax for child’s return of like 3k. And last year did not have anything withheld.

You can file up to 5 returns (same state) on TurboTax premium which you can get at costco for $90(?). My kids' refunds are more than that.

Most people do not need premium. Deluxe still gives you 5 returns and is $40. You can just print it and paper file to avoid the filing costs or type it in to one of the free options

Agreed. Deluxe will do it. But you have to buy the version that goes on your machine. The cloud version that they push on you (Are you sure? Are you really really sure?) is $5 cheaper but you can only do one return.
