Incorrect. Majority kids at or above grade level in ELA while at the same time learning another language. Math numbers are below 50%

But in the end, it doesn’t matter because the school uses standardized test scores as part of the placement process so high performers are not in the same classes with low performers.

What are you talking about when BASIS doesn't even start teaching languages before 8th grade and then only at the beginning level. We had no option past AP at BASIS and most of the students in my teens AP language class scored 3s or 4s. They could hardly speak the language.

You just said that more than half of students at DCI are below grade level in math so you AGREE with PP that most kids at DCI are below grade level.

. Nonsense. There are no language classes at BASIS taught past AP. You can sign up for community college or language school classes from any school if that’s what you’re alluding to.

I wouldn't go that far. Plenty of BASIS DC students pass AP languages. But a mere 3 required years of language going forward, in 8th, 9th and 10th grades, is equivalent to the minimum required to graduate in many school districts in the DMV. This is by no means impressive for what's supposedly the top college-bound charter program in the country.

I'm hoping that BASIS won't require language study at all in the future for students who can pass AP languages without taking language classes. That arrangement would be better than what we've got now, and what we're getting as of next year.
