Google reviews- curated or fake …?

I always assume all fake when a new small business opens, and has a ton of five star reviews in a few months. Like, tiny new Thai restaurant opens in a nondescript strip mall and it has 350 five star reviews in two months? And they all mention their amazing server Jason?

I check how far back reviews go against how long they have been in business. I tend to find 2’s, 3’s and 4’s to be the most helpful. The overly gushing 5’s and most 1’s aren’t particularly helpful.

I don’t trust or read reviews. i don’t know why anyone even bothers.

It is rare that I believe any Google reviews. I will scrutinize any pictures in the reviews tho.
