So was this snowstorm overhyped? Sort of a Bust?

Be very careful driving and for the love of all things holy, clean off your car before driving tomorrow.

There is a real problem with evey single aspect of the media is hyping everything up and making people panic. Its making people crazy at this point. Think about how much money was made when people ran out the stores for all the extras they don't usually buy like someone said all the hot chocolate was gone and baking items. This is ots intent and they have no issues bsing people. How do you go from 26 inch to 12 inches to 2? I was looking at the radar last night saying there is no way thats 8-12 inches of snow when it went straight to pink after a few hours that was sleet. Im over all of it and thrilled I didn't run to the store for bs.

Someone here on another thread said Arlington was clear on main roads not on side roads

Because you are believing all the wrong media. No one I know panicked and went shopping for more than their usual. I shopped days before the event and all the stores were fully stocked. No one was seriously predicting more than a foot of snow. In the DC area, we all got more than 2 inches. Bethesda's official measurement was 5.5 inches, plus sleet. There were hours of sleet. Some forecasting models computed all the sleet as snow, which is why some totals were higher than what we got.

You've only got your own stupidity to blame. Next time check with Capital Weather Gang, or some other experienced group and be more discriminatory about your media consumption.

We got 10 inches plus ice is now on top.

Why do you even bother listening to the weather?

First Responders do not need your dumb shit out on the roads.

No. It's three inches of sleet on top of 5 inches of snow. And it's all freezing together, with temps staying freezing all week.

We will be lucky if the major roads are ok by the end of tomorrow.

+1. It’s not the number of inches of snow, but the combo of snow, sleet, and subfreezing temperatures for several days in a row.

More than one city truck has slid off the street and crashed (Arlington city service truck and Alexandria snowplow)

Capital Weather Gang? Yeah, I’m not sure the bloggers turned hypemasters are the voice of reason in any of this.

And yet they were closer than The National Weather Service.
All experienced mets, but the difference is that CWG is local.
At no point did they hype this, unless by hype, you mean you selectively remembered the boom scenarios. Their forecast was 4-8 for my area, and I got 6.

Just go to bed, you don't have a leg to stand on.

We got exactly how much snow they were predicting: 8 inches (Fairfax), which is pretty impressive considering it was sleeting for most the day. We were right on that 5-8/8-12 line, so they predicted it almost to the inch. No freezing rain though. Just sleet and snow.

If you were getting a 26” forecast, that means that you were looking at an automated app. That makes you an idiot.

It is a damn mess out there and we won’t be above freezing for a week. This was a huge storm.

And the ice got a lot heavier. Shoveling later in the day you could tell the late fall was a lot denser.

It was a geographically large storm.

It was not what they breathlessly hyped all week.
