People who elaborated properly even with a 3.5 could still get in, don’t be too worried. (Parent of a freshman at tj who got accepted 3.86 ish gpa)

What would happen if my son gets the PSE partly wrong but did good on the SPS?

What the GPA? Also, did they explain their thinking well? That’s the main part.

He has a 4.0 and mentioned many extracirculars. However, for that part, he ran out of time to attempt it.

Good luck to those who took the exam! If the kids get in, great. If not, still great!

Oh so in that case it’s hard to tell. Your son is very similar to others at rachel who performed the same way your son did. You just have to wait and see.

Yep, there were hundreds of cars lined up and it took around half an hour to drop my student off, even though we came early. He had a 4.0 gpa at the time of submitting his application and does Science Olympiad - don't know if that is unique though.

My kid thought went pretty well but also didn’t finish the last part of the math.

Told me some of what he remembered from the prompts. Honestly, none of the kids will know how they actually did and what TJ is looking for in the essays.

Also, the parent who said their kid did outstanding at the essays…. Again, no one really knows.

It’s done! Woo hoo! And I for one am very proud of my kid for giving his best shot. Otherwise majority of the kids who even take this test are very bright and will do great wherever they go.

My kid thought she did badly because it seemed too simple. Realized that everyone got the same answer for at least 2 of the 3 questions. Will probably choose off of sps or essay writing skills. Even if you did get the problem wrong, essay writing should save you.

And there is GPA too, so I suspect kids with GPAs even a smidge lower will not be as competitive.

Most of the kids are going to have thesame GPA. I doubt that there are too many kids under a 4.0 but I could be wrong. The average GPS was a 3.98. I suppose that there are kids applying with a 4.something because of the honors classes.

Cutoff to apply is a 3.5

s anyone else thinking about the Feb 4th alt date? A bit worried about the advantage of extra time and since their peers have already taken it, but trying not to overthink it. It is what it is

Won’t they get different prompts?

I don't really know, but my kiddo told me that if I searched up TJHSST Admissions Past PSE Problems on YouTube, I could only find one per year, so I was assuming the math problem was going to be the same.

Yes and very few kids who are accepted will have a 3.5. The average GPA the last few years has been a 3.98. Some kids will have a lower GPA, like a 3.5 but not that many. I would guess the ones with lower GPAs are not coming from Carson, Rocky Run, Longfellow, or Cooper where here are over 100 kids applying. Some 3.75s but not much lower then that.

My child’s friend got in with a 3.75 gpa. (Mainly because she was taking Algebra 2 in 7th last year) but from what i’ve heard from DD, her writing was exceptional.

Aren't GPA's just cutoffs and are not considered in final selection?
