Amtrak will not be able to run on Sunday in NE Corridor. Not enough snow plows to keep the line clear.
Get out early Saturday AM or plan on Wednesday. |
| NYC is supposed to get a foot of snow. Not sure what if they cancel Broadway plays. |
| We have experienced severe delays on Amtrak ( both Acela + regular trains) between NYC + DC when it snowed OP. Our child used to live in NYC and we did the RT about once a month. Lots of nightmare stories to share. Many will groan, but if the trains are cancelled, check out some of the buses...some of them handle snow well. |
| I doubt the trains will be happening on Sunday or Monday until later in the day, due to the amount of snow and ice coming. |
| Likely you’ll be stuck in NY for a couple extra days so plan accordingly. |
you can not be this dumb |
Yes, as the forecast has shifted into a lot more sleet and freezing rain, along with the very cold temps, it's going to make it very hard for Amtrak to get the tracks safe. Can't just run a single snowplow train each direction. Probably won't see fully normal operations until Wednesday or Thursday. |
| Don't do this. Do your traveling today if it must be done. |
It has to be a troll. In case it's not, trains stop running when the snow gets deep. |
|
If you look at that route for Amtrak tmrw, 95% trains already cancelled. They are only running the northeast regionals, and they may be cancelled by tmrw.
Just accept you are stuck. Hope your hotel had room service. |
No |
Sorry, but this is wrong. |
| Embrace the extra time in nyc and don’t try to return until Tues. nyc in the snow is great if you don’t have anywhere you have to be. |
Acela trains have been cancelled but the regular ones are still running. I think the late afternoon ones are cancelled though |
