Is this Carson? If it is I think my child has the same teacher you are talking about. Students came out of the test in tears and it didn't help hearing all students from the other teacher's class all got 90s and 100s on their tests. All students know this. They all talk to each other about their teachers and their test results.
It's not "one teacher grades harder than the other teacher". The teachers make their own tests. We are talking about one teacher's students all got 50%-70% on tests while the other teacher's students all got 90%-100%. |

My kid had the hard Alg 1 teacher in 8th. Her friends had the one who gave extra credit. They had averages over 100% while she struggled to get an a.
Happened again in alg 2 except there was no extra credit. Nothing will be done. |

You do have the expunge and retake in HS, you don’t have to give up a summer to stay super accelerated in math. Your child will finish with Calculus if they do this, which is more then fine for colleges.
I would talk to the Teacher and include the Principal in the conversation. |
The same thing would be happening if there wasn’t a forced distribution of grades. It might even be worse because the Teacher could have fewer homework and quizzes which would impact the grade. |

| My 8th grader is not at Carson but is going through a similar issue with Geometry. My kid is stuck with the teacher who doesn't cover all the materials that is tested and takes weeks to grade quizzes and exams. I would talk to the school except the kid doesn't want to get penalized for it. |

Grade distributions do not matter. Learning the subject matter does. I would take a look at the tests. If I felt my kid wasn't learning then I would complain. Just because the test is hard does not mean the teacher is bad. |

I got Teacher Edition Geometry textbook and I taught my kids Geometry myself.
Basically, as a SAHM (with multiple degrees), I started to tutor my kids in most every subject from K-12. I also tutored their friends gratis. None of these subjects are hard. |

For us it’s an issue with planning. Teachr dumps a lot of content on Mon-Wed and has a summative test on Thurs, a take-home formative that needs to be turned in and at-least two homeworks all due on the day of the test. The quiz and at least one homework are unannounced. The teacher wants to make her timeline at the cost of learning. |
| The teachers always have to cram the 9 months of learning into 7 months of learning because about 1 month is lost in the beginning of the year with team building, review, and assessments and another month is lost at the end of the year after the SOL. |
