Snow Day/Records Day?

Some teachers/content areas did have to report in person on Monday. I assume they will report virtually instead.

Longtime DCPS teacher here. My guess is virtual for us Monday; Closed Tuesday; Delay Wednesday and maybe delay Thursday

Teachers work virtually Monday then closed Tuesday and Wednesday

Chuck Bell on News4 is thinking ALL area schools (including DCPS) will be closed all week because of the treacherous ice conditions.

Last year DC got 7.2 inches of snow and closed for two days, I think because it was so cold nothing melted or everything refroze overnight. The storm ends Monday so if we do get 7 inches I would say two days off is a fair possibility.

The bulk of the snow will be Sunday so if it’s a similar storm kids will be back Tuesday. FWIW I didn’t think school should have been open on time last year on that third day because the roads in my neighborhood were ice. But DCPS always pushes opening (except during Covid I guess).

It’s going to be bitterly cold next week, so whatever falls this weekend isn’t going anywhere soon. And the forecast for DC proper now is trending toward a couple of inches of sleet on top of the snow, which will become a sheet of ice. If they’re back in school before Thursday I would be surprised.

It was bitterly cold when we had 7 inches last year too. And it wasn’t cleared for two days. And we still went back the third day.

At our DCPS ES we had all been expected to be there all day in person on Monday. Then all DCPS teachers (at every school) were emailed and told this morning to take home their devices in order to work virtually on grades on Monday "if" there's an issue with the weather. Must be nice to have already been at a school that wasn't requiring teachers to go in on Monday anyway lol.

+1

Our principal always makes us go in person for everything. I think it’s so unprofessional and shows no effort at actual wellness for teachers.

Did teachers have to go in today despite weather conditions? Has DCPS given any extension of time to post second quarter grades?

No they emailed us just before 8 pm that we were virtual. No extension of time.
