It took me a while to realize that life is episodic. I now accept this, and make an effort if my current situation to connect with new people. You write each episode.

And a small handful of old friends get a special effort. Always will.

OP here. I should accept that some friends are seasonal and that is ok.

Yep, seasonal.

And made a couple closer friends for a while, but then those girls started being mean to my DD.....so that ends/changes the mom friendship.

My closest friends are not moms of kids' friends. May have met through school, but their kids are different grades or whatever...not necessarily my kids' friends but they get along well enough if families get together.

Travel ends up being usually just our nuclear family which I prefer most of the time because it's so fun. Occassionally when traveling with others, it's extended family, like siblings/cousins families and that is super fun.

I tell my kids friends are great but will come and go. Family is forever so don't neglect family. We make an effort to see extended family/cousins a good amount to keep those bonds tight.

It is so ok. Embrace your reason, season or lifetime friendships or even acquaintances that don’t evolve into friendships. You will learn things from each and every one.
