Real Talk - Do GLP-1 Side Effects Ever Really Go Away?

Anonymous
Tirzepatide side effects went away after about week for me.

Mine have. However, I had to go off of it cold turkey when insurance snafu, and that was horrible. I honestly thought I had ruined my gastric system forever. Never again. Once back on I feel normal again.

OP, thanks for asking this question, I'm wondering it too. I am on week 6, almost 7, of Wegovy at a .25 dose, which is what I started at. I have not increased the dosage at all. Every week i have at least one day, if not more than 1, where I feel like I have a stomach bug. At the risk of TMI I have projectile liquids coming out from both ends. It feels totally unsustainable to have that as a side effect ongoing! I don't know if it's worth a conversation with my PCP about trying a different drug, or if this is just the physical cost of GLP-1s and most people live with it, but while I'm thrilled with the weightloss, I have little kids an fulltime job that cannot sustain these side effects!

I’m on Zep. The only side effect I still get is high anxiety day 1. Then nothing else.

You need to eat a little more. The side effects will be less

I am on Wegovy. I did 2 months at 0.25, 2 months at 0.5, and am at 1.0 now. I’ve essentially lost all side effects. No more nausea. No stomach issues. The GLP-1 actually improved my energy levels but I think that’s because I am insulin resistant and pre-diabetic so it’s helping regulate my sugar levels. I used to suffer from intense fatigue spells following exercise and eating but no more!

I never had any.

I felt like crap for 24 hours after the first shot but then felt great and have had no side effects since. I take Gruns and have not even had constipation. That being said I’m on 2.5 mg of tirzepatide.

I’m on Zepbound and my biggest side effect have been food aversions to meat and dairy. They lessened a little but didn’t go away. My kids call me a fake vegan now. I’ve been on it since July and sometimes can eat some red meat, especially near the end of the week. I rarely can eat any poultry or cheese.

I thought you meant never again would you put your body through withdrawal of glps. What will you do if you can't get them again?

Sounds awful

You need to change your injection location. And never take it on an empty stomach. Eat some protein first, then take your shot.

I had mild constipation the first few months. Other than that, I have had zero side effects. I am down 50 pounds after two years.

Op I started on wegovy had sane issues stopped after four months

Now on zepbound same dosage as you and not sustainable in my opinion I’ve been on it a month it sucks. I told my doctor I would try another month but if it stays like this I’m not willing to term this bad and not function to lose weight

Been on Mounjaro (same as Zepbound) since September 2022 so over 3 years. No issues with side effects anymore.

I’m going great! Lost 70lbs and have maintained well. I changed my diet, workout regularly and feel great!
