Tourette’s - what has worked?

Anonymous
My DS was on risperidone for a couple of weeks - it reduced the frequency and intensity of his tics, but it made him very sleepy. We switched over to aripiprazole and it had the same effect on his tics but didn't make him as sleepy, so that's the medication he ended up staying on.

It still caused him to sleep more than usual (sleeping maybe 9-10 hours a night instead of 8), but not as much as the risperidone, which made him fall asleep during the day.

Did research and other countries use magnesium and B6 as a first line of treatment. We like natural calm - a high quality supplement from Amazon. We also did a Paleo diet with no artificial ingredients-- her tics cleared up--We loosened up on the diet over time but she still does gluten free. The natural approach did not help her ADHD at all-- she takes Ritalin for this. There is a lot of good info out there on people tryong out natural approaches for ourettes.

There are many studies on the effectiveness of a keto diet for epilepsy, so it seems it might help other neurological disorders.
