Rural area in a non-rural state (New York, Maryland, etc.)

This one is hot now because it has traditionally been neglected and doesn't upset the current WH occupants.

The top one has always been hot because it is hard to find qualified kids.

UVA was targeting rural areas of VA

Even reading comprehension?

Probably was a recruited athlete.

Excellent response and makes sense now.

If college is on either coast, then yes.
If college in a nearby state, then no.

For privates. Texas targets rural areas of Texas and CA does the same for the UCs. I both places people get triggered. Privates have traditionally neglected this group.

Being the kid of an English PhD who lives in a small college town isn't exactly what I imagine when I think of a kid from a rural and low income background. Guess it counts.

"While ZipRecruiter is seeing annual salaries as high as $158,000 and as low as $40,000, the majority of College English Professor salaries currently range between $55,000 (25th percentile) to $83,500 (75th percentile) with top earners (90th percentile) making $146,500 annually across the United States."

Questbridge has income limits, usually less than $65K for a family of four, but there's leeway. How much do you expect a professor making $55K to spend on their child's college education?

I know a kid who lived in a medium size city in a really random flyover state whose parent was a legacy at a good east coast school. I think they need a pulse to get in early.

Does Maine count as rural? Tiny island along the middle of the state?

We’ll take what we can get! It’s tough out there.

Middle of the coast, that is.
