Paying house cleaners when we are away…

I would give her plenty of notice that you will not be home those months so she can hopefully squeeze in some other clients.

Or you can ask them to come in & do some specific household duties not normally done when she visits such as organizing the pantry or closets, shampooing the carpet, deep-cleaning appliances, etc. 🧹🧽🪣🧼

Except remember that you're turning off the water. Kind of hard to clean without water, so make sure she is aware.

Oh yes this is not a moot point.

Maybe you should keep the H2O turned on.

I pay the cleaner when we're out of town. Weekly cleaning is in my budget. She's counting on making X amount of money a week. If I don't pay her, she needs another client.

Another option: pay the same amount but have her check on the house weekly instead of cleaning

We are snowboarding for the first time. Will be gone three months. I typically give her $100 to clean our upstairs once every three weeks.
I gave her $500 this Christmas to hold our spot until April. She was more than happy to do this.

If you are turning off the water, it will be difficult for her to clean.

If you can afford a three month vacation you can afford to pay her.

When we are out for 2 weeks our cleaner organizes a closet, cleans out the fridge, does the baseboards etc.

If you can afford a three month vacation you can afford to pay her.

which is what I did.
And we can afford a three month vacation because we are now retired and planned accordingly. We can afford to retire and have a place in a warm climate because we make fiscally responsible decisions and have for 40 years.

You are so cheap that you have to be screwed into your jeans every morning.

You think $500 is enough to hold your spot for three months? You will be looking for a new house cleaner when you return.

Regarding the water, OP, I have some solutions that work when I keep an eye on my parent’s property when they are away, and turn the water off. My parents keep a few Home Depot buckets in the bathtub(s)/shower, and a smaller painter-type quart mixing container to scoop out from the buckets for watering plants, or anything else I might need water. Also a regular bucket near a toilet in the event someone needs to flush.

You could ask her if this would work and how many buckets she thinks she will need.

She is out of town three months. She pays $100 every three weeks. Three months equals 12 weeks. She is missing four cleaning appointments. 4 x 100 = 400. She's paying $500.

Is my math wrong?

Yes, she pays $200 every other week so it would be $200 x 2 x 3 months or $800.

Every three weeks not every other week?
