Your husband is a problem because he sounds avoidant and the type of person to concoct illness at the holiday to ruin it for everyone, but waiting until he went to the bathroom to let the kids open a gift was a jerk move too. You knew he wasn’t around, you should’ve found him to tell him what you were doing or waited for him to rejoin you. Anyway, sucks for the kids.

You said it, Op, you guys don't get along.
Why stay together. You don't even bother to wait a few minutes for DH to get out of the bathroom. You don't care anymore.

DH should get himself check out thoroughly. Start with the blood panel and urine tests. Those are the easiest to do. DH should go get a colonoscopy. You could at least tell him that. If he refuses, then don't invest anymore time in the fake relationship.
