Colorado skiing - cancel?

Go to Vermont instead they are having a great start to the season.

This. Or Canada.

Is Southwest still cancellable?

Definitely cancel if you can. I think Snowshoe and Wisp have more trails open that most Colorado and Utah ski resorts right now and it would be miserable to be crammed into the small number of open slopes. They rely on natural snow out there and it has been crazy dry.

Lines will be heinous. Cancel 100%

If you're on the fence, cancel.

Op. We will cancel. SW is a pain now with cancellation so have to figure that part out. We can get our Vrbo $ back.
Agree it makes no sense to go.

We are visiting family in Vail and we haven’t really discussed cancelling. Even though our lodging is free, we already bought epic passes and can’t ski over Pres Day due to another conflict. It’s then or not at all.

If lodging was free then we’d go. But at over $1000 a night it’s just too much $ for terrible skiing.

I live in VT. Yes it’s been great. We are getting 50 degrees and rain on Friday.

There are never guarantees here.

Unless you bought the SW version of basic fares you can at least get credit. Maybe you can even fly to VT or Maine. (if you want ideas for other trips, we once had a great winter break trip to LA - there are lots of flights there and tons of hotels so it is not going to sell out like a typical vacation destination).

It used to be that if you didn’t use your pass at all you could use it the following year. Not sure if that was just a Covid thing though.

We saw the writing on the wall in November and changed our trip to Canada. Banff and Lake Louise are having a great early season. We were supposed to go to Utah.

We made the mistake of buying discounted tix to Copper so we are stuck going this season. I forgot why Epic/Ikon are ideal for going where the snow is. Oh well... live and learn.

If you are only going for expert terrain then it seems like an obvious choice.

We don't have a choice but also knew going in it was a risk and will just bring hiking boots in case that's the best option. I love the mountains and will be happy not to be in DC for a few days.

I’ve been going skiing in Colorado every winter break for over 30 years. Even when we had years of very bad snow, we still had a great time! I wouldn’t cancel.
