Wow, that is the state of Georgia making a foolhearted mistake in investing in natural gas like that. |
If the data center boom is a bubble then prices will come down due to excess supply. If it's not a bubble then prices will not rise as much because there's extra capacity Increasing electric generation is something most of th country needs. Regardless of data centers, we don't have enough capacity to keep up with the demand that comes with electrifying everything. |
Why is this? |
Why are retail rate payers subsidizing billionaires? Because the billionaires stacked the political decks including public service commission seats to make it that way. |
No this is not how it works. The once you build the power plant you have to pay it off, pay the employees, maintenance,, fuel (long term contracts with large natural gas pipelines to the plant), etc. All these cost are spread over the existing customer base with residual paying up to twice as much as commercial users. The highest electricity cost in the US are in areas that use more NG plants to generate electricity. Natural Gas is very expensive to run because the price of fuel is high. NG plants now take 6-8 years to build because equipment delivery(gas turbines backlog). By the time it is build the bubble will have popped leaving everyone in Georgia with a 15 billion asset that is not used. |
investing heavily in a brand new natural gas facility that will harm the immediate environment for a century when there are viable alternatives is the issue. |

But that can't be right.. Trump said if gas prices went down, everything would go down.
This is fake news, a Dem hoax. Trump gets A++++++ for economy. /s |
If you want high electricity cost invest in nuclear and natural gas. |
If those conservatives could count, they'd be very upset. |
| Republicans- All the little people have to paid for billionaires to make AI. So the AI can take our jobs? |
