Congrats for your discipline and achievements. Have you had an advanced lipids blood test done?
I’m considering order an NMR that measures the amount of each type of particles A and B. The B are the small ones and the most damaging.

Slightly off topic, but has anyone had anti-cholesterol meds work perhaps too well?

Eight months ago my total cholesterol was 404 and LDL was 275. I was immediately put on a statin (40 mg rosuvastatin) and later zetia (10 mg) was added. It turned out that, unbeknownst to me, I have a (non-heart) disorder that causes hyperlipedemia, which is being treated. I also drastically changed my diet.

I was just tested and, shockingly to me, TC is now 125 with an LDL of 38. I am seeing my doctor next week and am thinking a reduction in cholesterol reducing meds is called for.

My LDL just went through the roof. I need to make some changes. My diet hasn’t changed but I went on BCP, which can have an effect on cholesterol, and I got a new job and as a result my exercise has decreased.

I’m going off BCP and going on more walks. I’ll see my doctor and see what she says. It could be age related too because I’m 51. Ugh.

How old are you? I was able to lower my genetic high LDL to less high LDL when I was in my late 30s. At 53, it isn’t budging with lifestyle changes. But it is genetic for me and my family.

Mine just jumped a lot too. Also in my early 50s. I don’t want to take medications but it seems likely to happen.

It's genes. I eat plenty of fiber, rarely eat meat, exercise hard 6 days/week, and my natural LDL is 115.

Nothing you can do but statins.

There are other tests that can tell you more - LDL isn't everything. Get your lipoprotein A and APO-B tested.

Oddly, going off the pill in my late 40s raised my LDL, and decreased my HDL. Both by 30 points, with no other changes in health or lifestyle.
