Didn't happen for Reddit. I bought ONE share in March 2024. My return has been 349.73% |
| Give me a new use case than communication and maybe I'll invest. Too many competitors for that and bandwidth from low earth orbit cant support commercial internet anyway. Data centers? Gmafb. Satellites are a steeply depreciating asset. Google this: "what is the average time between catastrophic collisions in low earth orbit with no manuevers". You may be surprised by the answer. |
I just googled it. There is not a good answer because there aren't many collisions. Maybe you have a link that would surprise me? |
Have you seen the S1? We actually have no idea about its costs, and there have been lots of rounds of investments, so it’s possible they only break even or are losing money. This isn’t software, it doesn’t scale as easily. Musk made starlink because he needed to drum up business to put on his rockets. As a business we don’t know if starlink is making profit or just revenue to offset costs and lengthen his runway. |
Starlink is very profitable. Look it up. |

Starlink is growing a lot. |
| While I don't like Musk personally, it doesn't matter because I don't know him personally and never will. But what SpaceX has done is nothing short of AMAZING. Literally amazing. However it relies heavily on government funding and its future is reliant on the vagaries of government funding. I won't be buying initially and we'll see what happens. |
It’s not a public company. How do we know this? Musk says so? |
Starlink is also dependent on government contracts and cheap launches subsidized by infra built out on govt contracts. The starlinks last 3 years, must be constantly replaced https://spacenews.com/starlink-set-to-hit-11-8-billion-revenue-in-2025-boosted-by-military-contracts/ |
+1 We have no way of knowing--people just choose to drink the Musk Kool-Aid. Starlink also gets government contracts from our tax dollars, including one from USAID to provide communication services in Ukraine, which was under investigation for suspicious outages that could be perceived as favorable to Russia, which supposedly was part of the reason Elon Musk was so passionate about shutting down USAID. https://oig.usaid.gov/node/7845 |
| Blue Origin will eat SpaceX’s lunch in the next 20 years. Slow and steady wins the race. Watch this space for New Glenn. |
That's absolute bullsht |
That's what people said about FSD, but look where we are now. Tesla stock hasn't been climbing for no reason the past few days. |
| Hell no |
The uninformed continue to get grifted upon. Keep it up! |
