Is anyone currently at the Waldorf school?

Hope you don't mind being around unvaccinated kids.

OP: In a word: AVOID

Will message up your kid and the student will be far behind others of the same age.

If your child transfers to a good school, he/she risks being laughed at due to being so far behind the other students.

Yep, they don't start instruction in how to read until the second grade (7-8 year olds).

We did Waldorf through first and it was lovely. In an ai world it might not be the worst idea.

Literally how most of the countries we regularly aspire to be like in terms of education do it ( teach reading at a later age when the child is developmentally ready). News flash: they end up doing better than US kids on international standards.

No direct experience with Waldorf, but chiming in to say you should take a look at St. Anselm's for a boy of that age if you're looking for tech free. In middle school, they have a computer class that's focused on typing, coding, learning how a computer works and internet safety, etc. Other than that, the school day is 100% technology free. No phones allowed either (the students check them in at the start of the day). They do use the computer a bit at home because they have an online portal where assignments and grades are posted, and they type essays and have occasional online homework for some subjects, but it all feels very balanced and appropriate.

Yes and we love it. I agree it’s not for everyone but there’s a ton of misinformation on the comments here! Go do a visit and you’ll know if it’s a good fit!!

Our last child in school would greatly benefit from zero technology, so we are willing to make major sacrifices to downsize and change our lifestyle in order to afford the Waldorf school. I would like to know if it’s worth the price tag and if there are any negatives/downsides whatsoever. Thank you so much.

Main downside is that it is a bit hippy dippy and there is an antivax movement - so clear ignorance to what is best for the health of society. It actually makes me question the quality of education there if they believe this crap

This is why we decided against it, we’re too mainstream/pro science. I wish there were other secular private schools that limit technology usage.

They're holding pens for unvaccinated kids with subpar educations.

Make sure you're comfortable with white supremacy and antivaxxers.

The Waldorf-educated children I know are laughably behind in school. But that's not surprising, given most of them have clueless parents who don't believe in science.

Please research the white supremacist history of their founders.
