DD is saying that she has the ability to tell the future??

My family is Catholic and my grandmother and mom were super upset by the tarot and ouija board stuff. At least in our strain of Irish Catholicism, it’s considered really risky to tempt spirits that might be caught between worlds — like nothing good can come of that because if they were good spirits they’d be in heaven or doing their time in purgatory, so definitely you’re only going to hear from the really bad sorts. I don’t know what I think about that, but I think it’s at least something to consider, if you believe in spirits at all. It gave me enough pause that I started passing on that stuff at parties. If there are bad spirit, I really don’t want to be drawing their attention. Big no thank you on that. I’ve seen poltergeist.

It’s harmless. She said she saw that you dropped the milk. Let her do a reading for you. This will pass. She’s 13.

I hate to say it but this was my first thought too. There was a poster on here a few years ago whose DD started saying similar things. She ended up being diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 16.

Start calling her “Cassandra” and have her read “The Iliad.”

This is the kind of thing that would get a "that's nice, dear" type of response from me as I otherwise completely ignore and go about my day.

A lot of people are intuitive (I personally think it’s the voice of God + subconscious awareness). I have practiced magic and it is very real. I am a Christian now. Please don’t let your daughter practice witchcraft: it’s a deal with the devil.

This is interesting to me because I'm Irish Catholic and on my family foresight was always just called "a touch of the Gift," like a thing that obviously happens feom time to time, and is not in any way demonic.

I've had premonitions my entire life, but not in a predictable, harnessable way so it's more of a Thing That Happens than a workable talent. Usually it's sitting through a boring conversation that I've previously dreamt in full, though a few times it'sbeen more violent and I am almost always willing to forego any activity that gives me a vague sense of foreboding so who knows what I've protected myself from.

Give her a dream journal.

Tarot has absolutely nothing to do with channeling spirits the way ouija board does.

Yeah I’d definitely have to tease and tell her I’ll believe it when she provides the winning Powerball numbers for tonight’s drawing.

She sounds awesome. This is totally normal. Enjoy her. She'll only be this young and naive for a short time

You can't be real.

I would thank God profusely if this rises to the level of worry in your life.

However my daughter is now claiming that she has the "gift of prophecy", insisting that her dreams tell the future. For instance, when I dropped a jug of milk yesterday, she smiled and said that she "had a dream about this." I don't know if she's joking or not and it's worrying me. Thanks.

This is easy enough to test. Buy a lottery ticket.
