You know those videos on YouTube of a house suddenly exploding in a nice suburban neighborhood? That starts like this.

Do you have a working carbon monoxide detector?

How urgent is this to fix, and do you have a recommendation for a 30 inch range you like?

Why are you asking on DCUM when you should turn off your oven and top burner and call the gas company. You are an idiot!

Anonymous wrote:The gas escaping is a top tier emergency. We had a leak once that would’ve blown our entire condo away. All it takes is one cigarette, one spark from the engine in the garage, anything. Shut off the stove. Call Washington Gas to come get a reading.

Best Buy or Lowe’s/Home Depot for the stove.

+1 How is this situation even a question?!

Explosion and carbon monoxide are real high risks. You’re putting your family in serious danger as well as neighbors.

Guys, I would guess that OP knows a constant gas leak is an EMERGENCY. Their post suggests it happens when the oven is in-use, which indicates a malfunction that is causing incomplete combustion or inefficiency and letting residual gas escape WHEN IN USE. NOT good, and a reason to not use the oven, but not the emergency you state if you are not using the oven. This warrants not using it and calling an appliance tech, plumber, or getting a new range. I would first call an appliance tech in this situation, or my trusted plumber and ask if they would look at it.

OP, is that right?

The thing is unless OP has the proper equipment they can't actually assess if it's a constant small leak that gets bigger or not. Either way this isn't something you put off at ALL.

Someone's confidently incorrect. Carbon monoxide detectors do not detect gas leaks but improperly burning gas appliances can produce carbon monoxide, which is deadly. It's crucial to have them period but especially crucial to place them near gas-burning appliances.

What is racist about advising a stupid person that you do not use your gas oven when you know there is al gas leakage! You are as stupid as OP.
