Anesthesia less effective during dental work?

I'm the pp (#2) who used novocaine generically to mean any anesthesia. It was probably four shots of lidocaine instead, I'm fairly certain.

But now I'm enthralled by some notion of hair/skin coloring having any effect as I am also auburn haired and freckly.....is this a thing?!
