There's an extra spicy chai tea that might be more balanced than just cinnamon? Anyone know if that comes loose? That would be a nice gift with an individual strainer. |
Can you make loose leaf tea in a French press? |
| There are a couple of tea vendors at the downtown holiday market right now. Might be worth checking it out. You can knock out some other shopping at the same time. |
Yes you definitely could! I use an infuser for my tea now. Kind of like this: https://www.teabloom.com/dublin-glass-teapot-with-removable-infuser.html?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=691175988&gclid=Cj0KCQiAosrJBhD0ARIsAHebCNrJEWclx5Tcf6-OQuSzx-AjTbv-36_efI4jJaCZa96Z3okQvUEO4t0aAi4bEALw_wcB#292=152 |
| She is talking about Harney's Hot Cinnamon tea. It's the best! And the tea bags do not contain any plastic. Harney's has a large variety of teas online and Target carries a handful of flavors, including the hot cinnamon. |
| Agree, Harney’s Hot Cinnamon Spice is great, but they have many other good options too. World Market has a pretty good selection- better than Target. |
As a big tea drinker, this brand is my favorite. A Ritz Carlton I stayed at served it and I’ve been loyal to this brand ever since (and I think I’ve tried every other tea listed on this thread). I buy the loose leaf tea, but their bags are cheesecloth. |

I read that the bigelow brand tea bags do not contain microplastics.
My 96 year old mom just isn’t that worried about microplastics and can’t deal with cleaning out an infuser for her many cups of tea a day. So for some people bags just do make sense. I always end up with dried gunk in my infusers that I can’t get out. My favorite cinnamon tea is the Good Earth tea. Anyone who lived out west in the 80s will remember their restaurants and the delicious teas. They say their tea bag’s for their basic sweet and spicy cinnamon tea are made from plant based material, paper, cotton thread and wood pulp and are compostable so I think no plastics. For people looking for an infuser kettle, Costco has one right now that looks nice — but it makes several cup of tea at a time.,, |
Which teas do you recommend from Palais des Thes? |
If you have interest and energy: Are you close to one of Teaism in DC? At Penn Q, Dupont, Lafayette Park (tho not sure you want to be around there these days). |
| NP . Teaism Penn Quarter is also a block from the holiday market mentioned above, so can go to both if it’s open |
| It's much better to buy loose tea and an infuser. Look at Mariage Frères. |
This is what I do but sometimes need an extra strainer for small tea leaves or tisanes like Rooibos. |
