Opinions about these two majors

CS is limited enrollment at some universities & no guarantee to transfer in.

There may be an option to double major. A neighbor's kid double majored in math & CS, graduated in May '25, and moved out of the area to start a job in the summer.

There is no need to decide between these two majors before junior year of college. Don't worry

Ignore this advice and anyone who tells you intended major does not matter. It is not the 1980s.

Split the baby. Apply to GT etc. for CS (I hope you know how hard this will be, public school or not) and apply to the privates for math. Don’t call it applied math. Just math.

Why math instead of Applied math? I had thought Applied math is better in job market ?

You are not applying to a job yet. How vocational do you want to sound?

We didn’t mean to transfer. For top private schools, applied math has good job chances too. Is it correct?

I believe they are talking about AM is easier than CS to get in. That’s something definitely needs to be considered if true.
