The only thing out of touch is you! 90% of the US live in urban areas and don't have to live like its 1805.
What an idiotic post! |
Source? We will wait. |
If you need a well pump istalled it most certainly makes you more valuable. |
An insecure surgeon. How cringey. |
|
Do you know how to do any of these?
I do not and do not care. |
I mean this stuff is easily searched on line so I’m not sure what you’re are waiting for. For example, here is the CDC saying “In the United States, 9 out of 10 people get their tap water from a regulated public water system. Most other people living in the United States get their tap water from a privately owned well.” https://www.cdc.gov/drinking-water/data-research/facts-stats/index.html |
| It's incredible how when you let people comment anonymously so many people end up acting like children. Grow up, guys. We need diverse skills and perspectives to make the world work. It's not a zero sum game and society fails if everyone has only Greene County Skills or if everyone has only DC skills. |
Better than an insecure hick. |
| There are many of us in the dc metro from rural areas OP. |
A lot of it is insecurity from hicksville too. So many people Ive met in rural areas are just nasty about people who live in urban areas and calling them awful places as well. Just look at the republican party. You would have thought Portland was a war zone. |
| I agree with you OP that there are a lot of skills that handy people have that make them very valuable and smart and it isnt always recognized. |
| I cannot do any of those things however I am quite intelligent and concerned. If I needed a well pump, I would Google how to repair it. If I had a gun that I needed to clean, same. Just because I don't do it on a daily basis does not mean I'm not handy. |
| Yes, but can they MAIL MERGE?!? |
| We have a cabin in a rural area. I’ve found it remarkable how easy it has become to learn new skills from YouTube. My butchering and fish filleting skills improve every summer, and I can do some boat motor repair projects. |
| Before I even start to build the shed, I need to ask the county for permission to build on my property. |
