I wear reasonably tight pants and mini skirts and never have this problem. Perhaps because they're not actually that tight on me, or made of a thicker fabric.

Panty lines are a problem when wearing what i call red carpet outfits, with very thin fabrics. In that case there is laser cut polyester underwear that can help. I have some for those occasions, but usually I wear my trusty cotton undies.

Granny panties. They don't cut your butt in half and are more comfortable than thongs.

Agree with this. My day to day clothes are more substantial, or not tight, so I don't get VPL just wearing regular cotton underwear. Like this time of year, my default is jeans, cords, a sweater skirt, or an aline skirt. In the summer it's linen pants, midi skirts, or dresses. Most of these items are not skin tight, and those that are more fitted are somewhat substantial.
