+1

There's a reason students don't take the SAT early in high school: they are not ready to score their best. That doesn't typically happen until at least junior year, sometimes even senior year.

4. Super scored 780 in math from first test and 780 in verbal from
the last test for superscore of 1560

Both tests were the school day SATs.

first SAT was in summer before junior year - last was Oct of senior year.

I would say that its really hard to keep prepping after the first test.. so my son just gave the test and “hoped” for the best.

the school setting helped a lot!

good luck

ps: PSAT :1520, one sitting. NMSF

Our kid took one practice ACT and SAT in May of sophomore year. Scored 1390 on practice SAT and whatever is the equivalent on the practice ACT.

Studied about 30 min to 1 hour daily in August and September heading into junior year mostly with Khan Academy + Blue Book practices and did about 6 sessions with a math tutor. Took PSAT in October junior year and scored 221 index (don't remember overall score). Took SAT in November and scored 1530 (770 verbal, 760 math). She chose to be done.

Took PSAT 3 times. Bombed it in 10th grade, scored 100% in 11th grade (NMSQT - National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). Only used collegeboard and Khan Academy. Clicked on the "link account with khan academy" button from his online college board PSAT scoreboard. From then - Khan Academy gave very bespoke tutoring and coaching to him.

He is an NMS scholarship holder in the flagship state uni. Gets 2 K a year from the college for being NMS. So, 8 K total. Also, free tuition for 4 yrs, merit scholarship.

You can no longer link your CB and Khan Academy accounts. That ended when the digital SAT was introduced.

Once. After seven canceled tests. Applying during the pandemic was tough.

Just once. Took a class and had some tutoring sessions during August before junior year and then took the Sept ACT. Got a 35 so done.

It was good to focus heavily on it for a few weeks before school started and then be done. Much better for my student than trying to fit it in with junior year.

3X over a 6 month window.

1480, 1480, 1490, 1530 (not superscored).
We wanted her to stop at 1490 but all of her practice tests had been high 1500s, so she persisted.

My DS took it twice, raising his score by 200 pts.
My DD took it once.

Aim for August before junior year as the first take. That gives the kid as much of summer as they'd like to study, and also gets it out of the way before school begins.
