Are Uber-Lyft dangerous for women?

Depends.

In a word? “No”.

I go for the black car level, which has extra requirements for licensing. Even then, I have had one or two drivers that were unsafe (bad driver) during morning rush hour. Carey International is the best 24/7 and always 100% safe.

My last DC taxi was a driver reeking of bourbon. I was on crutches so stayed in car. Bad idea but I waited a long time for taxi.

With rideshare, be sure you look at the license plate in the app and be sure it's the car. Look at the driver photo and driver before getting in. Uber has "share my ride" to send details to someone, even yourself, as record. It also has help features in app.

Normally, I'd drive in (don't live accessible to public transportation), but she's talking up the idea of drinks, and I never drink and drive -- and usually when headed into the city, my spouse is either driving or else I'm with a group of friends in a ride-share.
Women - how safe do you feel taking a Lyft or Uber alone? is it possible to request and get a female driver? Thanks!

It's hit or miss. 95% are just poor people trying to make some money.
