If you do this regularly, you also know how much better the college matriculations are for private schools. That is because schools like Holton don't allow retakes on tests, give everyone an A for anything that is a 80 and above, and has actual rigorous classes.

Click on the college profile and look at the number of students going to Harvard/Yale and other top tier schools. Realize that these are from classes of 80-90 girls, not the 300+ at your public school.

Do let us know the names of schools that give everyone an A for anything that is 80 and above. I've never heard of a school that does that. Also, the Holton Arms description above does not include any information about grade distribution. What is the median GPA there, and how do you know that grading there is fact rigorous?

Can you read? This is weighted GPA. The corresponding unweighted GPA would be about 0.3-0.4 lower. Do you really find it unreasonable that 20 percent of the girls would have GPA of 3.6 or higher?

Can you read? This is weighted GPA. The corresponding unweighted GPA would be about 0.3-0.4 lower. Do you really find it unreasonable that 20 percent of the girls would have GPA of 3.6 or higher?

On average, 3 TJ kids have gone to Harvard per year. The class size is about 5 times larger than most of the local privates.

I really wish more ppl knew how to read/interpret basic data!

Seriously. I took the data from the Crimson and corrected for class size. Was surprised to learn that our kid's small and not-famous private school has far better stats for % of kids who go on to attend Harvard.

Yup. The school also only weights APs as 1.05 rather than 1.5 or 2.0, so the weighted GPA really isn’t comparable to other schools’ weighted GPAs. Which is a bit frustrating.
