If you could work remotely from anywhere in the US, where would you move? Assume dc are in college.

Maine/London in summer
Winter in the south - Charleston maybe
Fall / Spring - fun cities like NYC

We dont have fall/spring, we have 1st winter, 2nd winter and 3rd winter.

Unrealistic - San Diego
Somewhat unrealistic - Tampa
Realistically - I concur on the NoVa exurbs. It really is nice. I’m on a regular suburb now, I would move further out into Loudoun or PWC if I could and didn’t have to commute.

I am really happy where I live now. Upcounty MoCo.

A few months? Santa Fe.

For a year or more? Hawaii.

I work spring and fall in DC, summer in Maine and winter in South Florida.

I could go elsewhere, but my principal residence needs to be DMV. There is a family house in Florida and an old friend lets me use one of his Maine houses. Works for me.

California for the views or Florida for the warmth and sunshine

I live in DC because I want to. The fact that my job is here is just a bonus.

I'd also be incredibly wary of moving somewhere cheap for a remote job, especially in this economy. If you lose that job you're basically screwed. You'll likely end up having to go back to a HCOL job center and now you've got the disadvantage of not being a local applicant.

Meh. Your kids probably wouldn’t want that.

I wish my parents would move close to me, and I fully plan to move near my kid unless she tells me not to.
