Admissions Frowns Upon Kids at Other Privates?

Our school has so many families with kids are different schools. It definitely shouldn't be the kiss of death. If so, maybe look elsewhere.

Many private schools administrators are thinking when parents look to enroll a younger sibling in a different private from where the older siblings attend, it is because there is an issue with the youngest sibling. They reason you are looking is because the private school where the siblings are going is NOT going to enroll your youngest, so there must some issue.

Then they start thinking any donation is going to have to be split between private schools.

So I would be transparent about why you don't want him at the siblings school and why the school you are applying to is a better fit.

Echoing other PPs—be very up front with why you are looking at other schools for youngest and be clear that sibling’s school is not in the mix. If you are considering moving older sibling to depending on where younger one ends up, I’d mention that too. Our oldest DD was at an all girl’s school so looking elsewhere for younger DS didn’t require explanation. The concept of divided donations is very common in this area.
