Mine got 1520 SAT, 1490 PSAT both October Does that mean there’s still room for improvement on the SAT? We’re thinking not taking it again. |

similar, i think my kid had a 1250 PSAT and 1510 SAT -- tried an online class with Princeton Review but barely went up (got our money back) and then studied on his own with Khan Academy and got a 1510 (super score - two sittings). |

Do not listen to such ignorance. The PSAT is a one and one test. One can take the SAT as many times as they have the budget and time for. You can also superscore the sections. If you have a 1350 in October of your junior year, by this time next year you will most likely have taken the June, August, Sept and/or October test. Study and practice. |

| DS got a 1460 PSAT. He also just got a 1320 on the SAT in August. What do you think happened? Everything I see online shows a higher score/percentile on the SAT rather than the other way around. DS is taking relevant AP classes but I doubt 1 month of that would increase scores so much. Maybe just a bad SAT day? |

An anomaly. August's SAT was challenging because of the Reading portion being particularly dense and leaving many students without enough time to complete it. If this happened to your child, ask him how many questions he guessed on because he had no time. Skipping/not having enough time to answer 3 or 4 questions can crush your score. Math Module 2 hit those with subpar geometry skills particularly hard. Have him study and retake. Practice his grammar, review vocab words and ABOVE ALL master HOW to take the SAT. |

For comparison, my kid got a 1420 on Aug SAT and 1440 on the October PSAT. But on the SAT got only a 20 point difference b/w reading/ math and 100 point difference b/w the two on the PSAT. As others said, the August SAT may have been more difficult, particularly the reading section. We’ll see what happens on the next SAT. |

PSAT 11 = 1270 SAT = 1550 less than a year later Now at a T20, doing great. Conclusion: the low PSAT was the fluke not the SAT. |
