Ours put out word that it will depend on timing of when the bill passes. If it’s close to the deadline for the current pay period processing when it’s signed, all effort will be on getting that one out so we get something even if sorting out back pay takes longer. The hope is still that back pay will happen as soon as possible/out of cycle and not have to wait to be added to a normal pay check.

I love how half the stuff he says everyone in the administration immediately knows is law and rushes to implement and half the stuff he says everyone in the administration completely ignores

I recall the lump sum being in my account the next day we went back. We definitely didn't have to wait until our usual Saturday payday.

I think it's a separate check the way they pay for accrued vacation not used when you terminate. You accrue leave during paid leave don't you?

my DS works for the senate and for what it's worth he would told it would be separate paychecks. They will process the first payroll first then a few days later the second and then he'll get his regular mid November pay.

Yup, you accrue leave when you are on leave (or on holidays)
