They have spots in PK4 and K, it looks like.

Their waitlist is definitely moving. My child was waitlisted but I received an application yesterday saying that she was in. However, I am going with Logan Montessori now known as Capitol Hill Montessori at Logan. I will contact the school now to notify them that I am giving up my space.

Does anyone know what is going on with their new space?

Is this school targeting AA kids?

My kids got into SSMAPCS and are going.

Does anyone know how big their classes are?

SS is geared toward AA children, there is no way I would attend if your child is not. We have had experience with the director before and found her to be rather racist about other cultures/religions.

I believe they are renovating their permanent location which is across from the Howard Business School. It won't be ready by August/September, so they will be in a 'temporary' location somewhere close to the permanent location. I don't know the exact location of the temporary space.

Why is it deemed racist when someone wants to ensure that AA children have a strong sense of self? Especially in a society where the majority of the images around them say that Black is not beautiful or Black is bad. If you are not AA then it would be very hard for you to empathize.

Oh really? According to the school's website, the position of Executive Director is "pending." So how can you claim ""we have had experience with the director before and found her to be rather racist about other cultures/religions" when the position hasn't even been filled?

I'd guess from this posting -- well as other negative ones that keep popping up whenever this school is mentioned on other threads -- that you have some kind of agenda, and not a very nice one, with respect to this new charter school and have no hesitation spreading half-truths and plain falsehoods in your attempts to damage its reputation. In would be interesting to know why you have chosen this particular axe to grind.

By these actions, you are doing a great disservice to parents on here who are interested in the school and looking for objective information on whether it might be good fit for their child.

BTW, I have no connection with or any other interest in this school in particular. I just don't like to see someone so obviously conducting a smear campaign and not get called out on it.

I agree, PP. I talked to them at the charter school expo and they were very nice to me (I am write). My kid loved the Montessori materials they brought, too.
