My friend’s 3 kids all applied REA to Princeton and were deferred and later accepted.
They were rejected or waitlisted at Harvard and Stanford. One got into Yale (but chose Princeton) and the others waitlisted. Rejected or waitlisted from Duke all other ivies they applied to. |

DD - CA Public HS
10/30 Submitted SCEA Princeton 11/3 Received Interview Request 11/4 Confirmed Alumni Interview 11/8 Interview Completed-1 hour 11/11 Received - Missing document email asking official SAT scores submission Can experts weigh in on this request? I believe this is the normal process. Thanks in advance |
You need to send an official score report from the college board. This is required unless you’re applying test optional. The interviews are handled by alumni volunteers and they wouldn’t know if your app is complete or not. It’s unrelated. |
| Shouldn’t student first self report via common app and once they are admitted they will send the official scores from CB? |
| Isn’t Princeton Test Optional for this cycle (2025-26) and mandatory from next cycle. |
No. Princeton only accepts scores via official score report. This is true for a number of other colleges as well. You really need to check each one. Go to the college's admission site and read the application checklist. |
| are the athletic recruits expected to submit REA? DD is a junior and we fully expect Princeton to be an option for her next year. |
No, Princeton specifies that you must send an official score report when applying (unless test optional). It is in the instructions. |
| Also, you can log into the portal to see if your application is complete (teacher recs have arrived, for example). This is a good idea to do for every school you apply to. |

Assuming the student has a solid but not spectacular score((1500+), does late score submission actually change REA outcomes in HYPSM?
Will the file be still read or moved to regular decision? |
I don’t believe that’s true, only after acceptance do they require it. |
Did that change recently? It wasn’t true in 2024. |
Thanks! That is a change from 2024. |
I don’t think any of us can answer this. You could call admissions to ask about REA vs RD, but my guess is that if they’re sending an email to ask you to do it, they’ll extend some grace. |
