Senior year is frustrating, can’t wait for college

But DD17 came in from her party last night at 11pm, woke me up, said she loved me, and was looking forward to our weekend together. She's a senior and I would have cried but was half asleep.

What was in that punch at the party she went to??

My senior’s friend group is also imploding and had no one to hang with last night.

What’s with all the friend groups imploding? My senior, who has always been a major homebody, seems to be branching out and hanging out with different people and making an effort to get out. I think the realization that high school is almost over is spurring her to action. It’s been nice to see.

What kills me is the expectation of fun with all the planning, costumes… and then, disappointment.

This is not anywhere near a "grind" compared to what you child will experience in life, work and in general. As a parent, remind them this is the least stressful part of their lives and to just enjoy it.

You think all the pressure goes away once they are in college??

At least you don’t have to see it/hear about it??

What disappointment? In Halloween?

I’m sorry. My kid’s friend group is hanging on by a thread. I think this is common in senior year.

The drama that some of you people have when it comes to college admissions is just pathetic. My God. Get a friggin grip.

I don’t know…their lives seem way more stressful than ours…

What are you doing on this listserv then? It's a college admissions drama group.

There were several massive parties last night that mirrored college Halloween ones. More tonight. It seems silly to wait up for them to get home but i feel compelled to do it. I share ops sentiment. The kids are ready.

Great! They should be! Why the need for a rant then?

NP here. If this thread isn't for you, then perhaps you can go somewhere else. No need to be rude.
