| Yes, I would. There are plenty of other books out there. |
my 4th grader did a project on Lemony Snicket and found out about sexual assault from doing it. her younger siblings LOVE the series of unfortunate events and every time she sees his work - she goes oh he's a nasty person who assaulted women. I was furious- but they can still enjoy his books. I think it's the amount of ick it gives you. This kid also loves good omens and the graveyard book. I think this generation of girls just thinks a lot of people are a$$holes- especially people with money and power and authority- and so you have to look past it, once they get power & money they will prey on people or just be jerks. look at all their friends whose dads are in their 50s with wife number 2 who is maybe a decade older than their daughters and they know that if dad remarries in his 60s step mom will be younger than them!. but dads who didn't make partner are less likely to marry a 3rd year associate. I mean all the 7th graders have read the 3 Good girls guide to Murder books so they are quite jaded, we older generations are very naive and expect decency. ppl are trash. |
