I’m the OP. I am not affiliated with the school. My kids don’t go there, and sadly, we can’t afford it so my kids won’t apply. I shared this because I thought it was great news for some families. Because it said “income” I didn’t realize it included your assets too. Bummer.

They have to consider assets. I have a high school junior and technically my DH and I could retire to get our income under this threshold to qualify for this benefit. But we have plenty of assets.

Also, merit-based full rides have always been just for tuition and not room and board. Not sure why this would be different.



I never said in my original post that it covered room and board. Not sure why other people assumed it did. Personally, I would still be thrilled if I could get just that covered.

I have two other kids in college and have filled out the CSS profiles so I understand colleges want to know everything before giving aid. Again, I think I was thrown off by the use of the word “income” in the headline and got excited. Dumb of me.
