11:16 - That happened to us, too, on our 2nd try. I talked to Dr. G, and he said that it was hard to know what had happened. It is even possible that the egg slipped out the side of the follicle when they stuck the needle in. For me, I looked at the stats. My first round, which made it to retrieval, had a steady "growing" of the egg (as shown by increasing estradial levels. The second round, the estrogen levels had dropped. I think that it was just an "off" month with my hormone levels being unbalanced. After the retrieval (and no egg), I decided that I wouldn't go to retrieval if my estrogen levels dropped during the cycle because sometimes that is an indicator of compromised egg quality. By avoiding retrieval on the questionable cycles, you save money and heartache.
If you don't mind me asking, did you see anything similar during your cycle? (something that might indicate that your hormones were a little "off" that month)?
I guess the take-home is: I think that the body has good months and bad months when the hormones aren't "cooperating". We believed that if we kept trying, we would hit a "good" month. 4 months in, we finally did. If you have the financial resources to continue, I don't think you should give up yet.
