No. Worst advice. They can release you as a patient if you do this. |
Haha, so funny. The insurance company is probably the reason the doctor is late, with all their BS forms. |
No they are not that busy. 40 minutes is not acceptable. If the nurse came in and said there was an emergency sure otherwise no. |
| If you go to the /r/medicine subreddit, you will see that the doctors think the system is on the verge of collapse. I've never seen my mother's cardiologist looking so tired and beat down. |
Yes exactly what I’m saying. Your doctor is not thrilled to be cramming patients in and constantly running late. But because of insurance reimbursements, they can’t be profitable without seeing that many patients. |
| I'm assuming the doctor doesn't want to be so late for appointments. But it's a really dick move to schedule patients like this. Everyone else is busy too, and doctors seem to have no consideration for other people. I hope these doctors experience the same damn thing when they have to make appointments with other professions. |
You are absolutely right! |
I think you don’t understand that we are releasing them as a doctor. It works both ways. |
It’s. Not. Their. Choice. |
Why do you say that it's not their choice? |
That's just a poorly run office. I had one doctor do that to me. The first time, I was willing to accept that there was an emergency. The second, I was a little more skeptical. By the third, I realized it was a pattern. So, after two hours, I left and sent them an invoice for my time (I bill at $700 an hour). They paid it. |
If they are that busy, do they really need you? |
This absolutely did not happen, but great for making s*** up on the internet! |
|
It is okay to run late; HOWEVER, if the doctor was running 40 minutes upon your arrival you should have been notified when checking in. If an emergency just occurred, I understand it will take a bit of time to tell the patient.
I do find it insulting when the doctor is already known to be running 30 minutes or more behind and I am not notified when checking in. A little respect and transparency from the office goes a long way. |
Doctors will say they need to schedule so many patients because they need to make money. Like that's some foreign thing for everyone else. But I've never had a a 30 minute appointment with a lawyer or accountant that entails waiting for hours. And presumably, lawyers and accountants also need to make a living. I'm not sure why doctors - alone among all professions - can't create something reasonable that doesn't entail ruining everyone else's obligations and responsibilities. |
