McLean (private school in MD) for 9-12?

Thanks for all the replies. Can anyone give me a sense of whether there were extra costs that you didn't know about upfront? How much does lunch cost? Tuition would be a stretch but ok if there aren't a lot of additional costs.

He was an athlete, participated in a variety of clubs, and was kind of a big fish in a small pond. Gave him just hte right amount of supports but also helped him develop great self advoacty skills. Not sure about chatgpt and AI but I know the school just hosted a program on it, so I assume they've got precautions. And, that teachers are using AI for good and kids are still learning to write. Oh that was a strong program too - separate english and literature classes.

Our DD was at McLean for middle school. It was very supportive but we felt the high school was just too small for her. We went public with an IEP, because of sports offerings and that turned out to be the right decision for us. Her best friend remained behind for high school but didn't like the very small classes. Both went on to college and succeeded.

My kid is thriving and will graduate from a VA public university next year. They have maintained a close friend from McLean Upper School. We liked having a “real”-feeling school with sports. By contrast, a place like Commonwealth felt institutional and a place like Field lacked supports.

Yes, this was huge. Theater and music opportunities, as well.

The OP asked about college boy dates. My ds graduated from Winston Churchill and didn’t date.

If anyone could speak to the financial piece, including average tuition increases, I'd appreciate it!
