It's to game the rankings. NU has alternative campuses outside of boston. US news considers test scores and guess where the lower test score freshman are admitted. |
No, the program makes good sense when they have big coop program with a good chunk of students in and out each semester. There used to be some gap while ago but not anymore when they receive 100K apps. First semester study abroad offer is actually not a bad option for many people. There are many schools do that besides the ones mentioned above. Georgia Tech - https://admission.gatech.edu/transfer/transfer-pathway-programs (my kid was offered this) William and Mary - https://www.wm.edu/admission/undergraduateadmission/how-to-apply/after-applying/decision-explanations/waitlisted/spring-pathway-options/ UFlorida even have first year On-Line option
https://ufonline.ufl.edu/apply/admissions-requirements/freshman/ UVA also offer first semester/year abroad, and also have 1 year at Wise campus program. These kids obviously have lower stats. https://apps.educationabroad.virginia.edu/index.cfm?FuseAction=Programs.ViewProgramAngular&id=11068 https://www.uvawise.edu/admissions/uva-deferred-admission-agreement Emory sends big chunk of students to Oxford, and they join Atlanta after 2 years. Just different options. |
