Brabrand vs Reid

Do you have reason to think that Reid is doing better? Just look at the Hayfield mess. Look at the top heavy staff at Gatehouse.

Except this didn’t happen.

Yes it did happen. But she was so much more to make her worse before the security team.

Cool whataboutism

The whole thread is whataboutism, in case you missed it.

How about we raise our expectations and get a superintendent who focuses on education?

I think she would have bedn worse than Braeband if she had been our covid superintendent.

The superintendent acts at the direction of the school board.

Brabrand upended TJ admissions because the board prioritized One Fairfax. Reid has to muddle through this county-wide boundary review because the board voted for it.

You want to attack individual superintendents but the issue is you keep electing all-Democrat school boards.

Teacher here. Reid is way worse. She has no idea what is actually going on in schools. Braband at least knew the system. Reid cannot answer basic questions about the division she leads.

Better question: Why can't the School Board find a competent superintendent? It's been one dud after another lately.

There are very few superintendents that would want the job.

Because the school board is incompetent and so picks superintendents that fit their mold.

From where? The last three searches yielded very few contenders.

Maybe y'all shouldn't have had Brabrand fired. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone who stays more than a handful of years?

Brabrand got fed up with the School Board and vice versa. He came in saying "the main thing is the main thing" and he meant academics. And then all the School Board wanted to do was focus on equity and anti-racism stuff and he pivoted to "equity is at the center of all we do" to try and keep his job, but it wasn't enough.

Reid traffics in even more meaningless slogans like "imagine the possibilities" but she's better at taking whatever they throw at her without betraying her impatience. It doesn't mean she's doing a better job, just that if they ever were to fire her it would be clearer they were admitting to their own faults as well.
