This would and some time from the east coast. Probably 7-8 hours additional travel time. |

If you haven’t been to Hawaii, I’d break up the trip and spent a week there before Australia.
If the 20 hr flight doesn’t bother you, I’d visit Cairns or Fiji. |
| New Zealand requires twice as long as Australia. |
Twice as long what? To get there, obviously not. To travel around, only if you are skipping 90% of Australia. |
I suspect most people go to Sydney and Melbourne and say, OK I've seen Australia. Maybe a few days at the Great Barrier Reef. But Australia is quite vast. |
You're probably going to skip 90 percent of Australia unless you like red sand. The comments come from visitors who spent longer in Australia than in NZ because Australia is bigger, but wished they'd spent more time in NZ because of its diverse ever changing scenery. |
OP would be travelling around NZ in winter. I dare say they miss most of the diverse scenery. |
| There is a lot to see in NZ, a week isn't long enough. Spend your time in other parts of Australia and plan to visit NZ when you can do it justice. |
|
Singapore or Tokyo if you transit through either.
You can see a lot in a short amount of time in either place due to density of attractions. |
Wildly out of the way. |
