Breast MRI WWYD

Unless the cost will be a serious hardship, I would do it. My breast cancer was caught early enough that I didn’t have to do chemo. That is worth a lot.

I had genetic testing done last year since there has been some breast cancer in my family but it showed I don’t have any genetic markers for BC and I believe my score was around 12-13.

PP here - there was no BC in my family when I was diagnosed, but I did have dense breast tissue.

Another PP I have no cancer genetic markers. I have almost totally fatty breasts. I had cancer.

How was yours discovered?

Screening mammogram w tomography at WRA Fairfax.
Brought me in for ultrasound, radiologist was virtually certain. We cried together.
Needle biopsy main use was to type the cancer for surgeon and put in marker clip. 4mm invasive ductile.
I had an MRI to map the clip and prepare surgical plan. Another one day of surgery at hospital to put wire in to guide surgeon to marker. Yucky but oh well.

My radiologist was emotional too. It surprised me. Maybe we had the same one.

Thanks all. I booked the MRI today, glad I called now because it was one of the last open slots in December I could get.

Get the MRI. Mammograms are less accurate, especially on dense breasts.

Ask me why I think this is very, very important.

Glad that you have appointment scheduled, the peace of mind is very worth it for about the cost of a new cell phone.
Good luck to you!
