Alex Koma is reporting that Raj's first campaign filing shows $29K raised from DC donors, with $41K raised total. Her campaign launched in early August, so this is the fundraising haul after about two months. The campaign is reporting that those DC donations come from 787 donors, (https://bsky.app/profile/aparnafordc.bsky.social/post/3m2tsrei3xs27), so that works out to an average of about $37 per donation. Seems like the socialists have some real energy for this race, would have to imagine that Trump's occupation is pushing Ward 1 residents (at least the types who would donate to a political campaign 8 months before the primary) to go for someone they perceive as a fighter / the complete opposite of Trump.

Looking at his campaign site, he has no real policy proposals, with one of his main issues seemingly being anarchist My Little Pony graffiti on street signs (the following picture is from his "The Issues" page, captioned "graffiti tagged signs - Adams Morgan in Ward 1"

I guess he's authentically representing the "cranky senior" base.

The rest of the candidates are all whack jobs with horrible ideas. I'll take the long time resident focused on extremely local issues every time

Seems the long-time resident isn't doing too hot. Campaign finance report for the last two months https://fairelections.ocf.dc.gov/public/registrantDisclosureDetails/156 shows Terry Lynch only $1,200 raised from DC residents. You would think that if he was supposedly so well connected to the congregations etc. that they would maybe throw him a bone.
