How do I prevent my coffee maker from getting filthy?

Run 3 cycles of vinegar through it followed by two water. Always leave it open when done to allow it to air dry.

I cleaned mildew off the water dripper which might explain why the coffee tasted like it came from the shower drain. Nasty.
