My similar profile child (anxiety/autism/adhd, manifesting as work avoidance and school refusal) did well at Pinecrest in Annandale. They don't have special ed support but it's a tiny school so they know everyone by name and need and the specials helped him with some of his struggles (things like yoga for relaxation and public speaking practice).

They weren't able to support advanced academics though, so after a few years we had to move back to public so he could actually be challenged. I miss the tiny nurturing profile every day!

FWIW they got a new director last year so I'm not sure if it's changed.

Auburn gets a lot of negativity they don’t deserve. My child while in 3rd grade is similar on the anxiety front and it has done wonders for them.

Would agree with Maddux. Wonderful place. Also heard great things about Auburn.
